BVQ Meetings begin at 7:00PM on the second Tuesday of every month. A short business meeting is usually first, followed by refreshments, THEN the program - EXCEPT WHERE NOTED, THE PROGRAM WILL BE FIRST. These dates are marked with asterisks* *.
January 12, 2018 - BVQ Member Mary Alice Peeling will be speaking and showing 5 generations of quilts from her family. All except Mary Alice’s were either made and quilted in Somerset County PA or quilted there. Her mother’s family has lived there since the mid-1700.
**February 13, 2018 - Joyce Hughes will present "My Journey into Quilting", an open and inspiring talk about how Joyce started quilting and the transformation into Thread Painting and using Panels as Art Quilts. Click HERE for a more detailed description of the program. Guest Fee $5.00

March 13, 2018 - Brandywine Valley Quilters 31th Anniversary
BVQ will celebrate another anniversary this month. Members will be given a party favor to celebrate this happy occasion. See Anne Marie Kiesling at one of the tables to receive one. Please form a line and do not bunch-up at the table.
March 24, 2018 - SATURDAY WORKSHOP - Mini Mosaic by Cheryl Lynch - This is a fun no sew workshop that imitates the ancient art of mosaics. Learn how to create a mosaic picture from small pre-cut pieces of lots of colored fabric, using a technique that Cheryl has developed to simplify the project. Pick one of the available patterns in class that will finish to measure 9 x 12” and then can be bordered to your preference. Class fee $28.00, Kit fee $14.00. May 8, 2018 - Michelle McLaughlin will present "Project Sunway: The History of the Sunbonnet Quilt Pattern", a trunk show featuring over 50 different examples demonstrating the versatility and humor this pattern continues to provide quilt makers. Guest Fee $5.00
Audience members are encouraged to bring their own sunbonnet quilts for Michelle to review and possibly identify the pattern.
June 12, 2018 - Anne Holte will present "Friends and Family: The Lancaster Diamond Sampler Quilt"
Ann fell in love with this quilt and has been studying it and making the blocks since 2009 - she just keeps discovering more interesting and mysterious features every day about the quilt and the unknown quilter who created it. This fun and informative lecture and trunk show lasts about one hour. Ann will discuss the various techniques used in these quilts, share some surprisingly easy geometry, and even take the Mystery Appliqué Quiz. This quilt will remind you why you got into quilting in the first place.

September 11, 2018 - Janneken Smucker will present "Amish Quilts - Crafting an American Icon"
Hear an historical approach of Amish quilts following a loosely chronological narrative examining how these bedcovers—once solely objects made and used in Amish homes—emerged within 19th-century Amish homes in the midst of the industrial revolution and colonial revival, and then became first works of art worth a lot of money and second, commodities made in home-based Amish industries and sold to tourists. Janneken uses historical analysis of archival and published sources, examination of quilts, and oral history interviews to tell this story.
