Time for our annual ice cream social, our annual challenge, and our first “in-person” meeting since March of 2020. I love ice cream, I love challenges, and I love being with you guys, so I am super excited. It looks like the weather will cooperate. too. Don’t forget to bring your chair, water bottle, your challenge quilt, and any show and share to the meeting too. And wear your name tag!! We will be starting our raffles – 50/50, In it to WIN it (formally Not so Blind), and a new fabric raffle – so come prepared to buy some tickets. The board met and approved committee chairs and the budget for the upcoming year. The list of new committees and their chairs/coordinators is in the newsletter and will be available on the website. There are a few open positions. If any of these interest you, please let me know. We also discussed some ideas for the year – so stay tuned! We would also love to hear any ideas you have. Check out the retreat information, upcoming speakers, and more in the August newsletter. We hope to have information about the status of starting meeting at Neumann shortly, but it seems to be a moving target. We will let you know as soon as we know. Hope to see each of you soon whether in person or on zoom. Our August meeting will start at 6:00pm. We will be in the vicinity of where we had our Sunday drop offs and pick ups outside the Bruder Life Center. Stay cool and keep quilting! Nancy The Patchworker Things to know about BVQ: Meetings are on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm Join us for virtual meetings until it is safe for us to resume in-person meetings. Zoom information will be emailed to members. Happy 4th of July!
Whew, it’s hot, too hot! My excuse for staying inside and sewing right now! The lazy days of summer are here yet BVQ keeps going strong. We had another great kit making gathering for charity kits, so be sure and check them out and grab a couple to make up. Elaine has picked some super cute, quick, and easy patterns that I am sure you will enjoy. Gretchen and Selina have received the confirmation from Neumann on the show dates – July 22nd, 23rd and 24th 2022! That’s right, we are moving the show to the summer and to Neumann. Both of these changes provide a great opportunity for BVQ to re-imagine the show once again. The board is in full support of making the investment in 2022 to make our show even better than it has always been. Now here is your job – VOLUNTEER! Sign up to help however your time and skills permit. Committees are just being formed so if you are interested in leading some area, let it be known! Consider this the ask. Gretchen and Selina will of course be reaching out but let’s not put the full burden on them to match each of us to the committees. No task is too big if we all work together and yes, your experience and skills are needed. Our 2021 Challenge - Drunkards Path with a Twist of Lime is due at the end of the month so we can vote and announce the winners at our August meeting. I cannot wait to see how creative you have been with this fun challenge. Our August meeting – an ice cream social – is being planned to be outside at Neumann. August 10th at 6 PM. Note the new time! Final details will be in the August newsletter. Hope to see you there. Enjoy the heat, stay cool and quilt on! Nancy |
AuthorHi I'm Deb, BVQ webmaster and official blog runner! I am a retired Medical Technologist, having worked the night shift at Chester County Hospital for 30 years. I think I have sewed forever – my mom sewed, my grandmother sewed, and in 1984 I decided to make a "blanket" for my about-to-be baby....it was 3 layers sewn together with a binding! Little did I know it was a quilt! I am basically self-taught, but continue to learn as I hang out with BVQ. My basement work area is seriously quilt cluttered and my better half asks no questions! I have too many UFO’s and want-to-do’s than I can count, but I guess that makes me a true quilter! Archives
