Charity Focus
Over the next several months, we are focusing on Young Moms, an organization that provides supportive services to pregnant / young moms under 21 in Southern Chester County, PA. We will be providing these moms with small baby/toddler quilts. They are currently working with about 50 young moms, with little ones not yet born to 3 years old. So we are focusing on this organization to supply a quilt for each child. There are no specific size requirements, and so you have free reign to create something that a young mom would cherish. Read more about them at www.youngmomscommunity.com. They have been extremely grateful for quilts we donated over the past month!
Pillowcases
Thank you everyone for your pillowcase donations. These will go to Ryan’s Cases for Smiles. And we have lots of kits for anyone interested!
Quilts for Kids or Adults
Chester County (Penn Medicine) continues to accept small (36 to 42 inches square) red/white/blue quilts for hospice veteran patients. These go quickly and are small enough to quilt on a domestic machine as well. They are now also accepting these for other patients so feel free to make these in any color and theme combination! We have several other organizations accepting kids or adult quilts as well.
Quilts of Valor
A Quilt of Valor (QOV) is an award to Service Members and Veterans who have been touched by war. It says, “thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.” Quilts of Valor reflect the best possible workmanship and use of quality materials. Quilts of Valar must be a specific size, must have a label with required information, must be awarded, and must be recorded. Please see the BVQ website for all the details. If you have any questions, please reach out to Heather Smalley at orissarun@msn.com
Thanks to all of you making a difference for people through these causes.
