CHARITY CORNER Donations for January 2024
Given we did not have an evening meeting, the items turned in during the sew-in were less, but mighty!
  • 2 pillowcases, 1 Cat cage comforter, and 7 quilts. 
CHARITY CORNER Donations for November 2023
  • 105 NICU Quilts, bringing us to 180 total. We will continue to collect NICU quilts for anyone still making them! As we have enough, we will continue to donate them. In December, these were delivered to Christiana Care Hospital and Nemours Children's Hospital. Thanks to Cindy Barone and Jen Celeste for delivering!  Contact has been made to deliver to Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia as well. At the December meeting, we will be drawing for 4 - $25 gift cards to lucky winners from those making these this year.
  • 294 'Scent' Hearts to be donated to the NICU recipients. We will continue to collect these.
  • 3 Kids quilts and 3 Adult quilts
  • 12 Cat Cage Comforters - This brought our 2023 total to 167! All collected have been delivered to Humane Animal Partners in Wilmington, DE.
  • 30 Pillowcases were collected this month. These have all been donated to Ryan's Cases for Smiles
  • We delivered 30 kids quilts to the Ronald McDonald House in Wilmington this month.

CHARITY CORNER Donations for October 2023
  • 18 Cat Cage Comforters - This brought our 2023 total to 157! All collected have been delivered to Humane Animal Partners in Wilmington, DE.
  • 39 Pillowcases were collected this month.  Combined with the 74 so far collected for Nemours
Children's Hospital, we delivered 100 to the hospital and dropped off the rest at Hayes Sewing for Ryan's Cases for Smiles. 
  • 20 NICU Quilts, bringing us to 75 total.
  • 5 Quilts for Kids, 3 Quilts for adults, 2 Love Quilts

CHARITY CORNER Donations for September 2023
  • Cat Cage Comforters - 10 were turned in bringing our 2023 total to 139!
  • No Pillowcases were collected this month. We have a total of 74 so far collected for
Nemours Children's Hospital. Please help us reach 100 so we can turn these in for the
holidays.
  • 34 NICU Quilts, bringing us to 55 total.• 28 Quilts for Kids• 6 Quilts for adults
  • 10 quilts collected and mailed to Maui. Thank you, Cheryl Lynch, for coordinating and
paying the postage for this!!
  • Quilters Help Maui Victims!
Cheryl Lynch encouraged us last month to make quilts for Maui to help out fire victims. Maui Quilt Shop coordinated donations from many quilters all over the world, including the 10 made by BVQ members.

CHARITY CORNER Donations for April 2023 
  • 40 Cat Cage Comforters
  • 9 Pillowcases delivered to Ryan's Cases for Smiles
  • 30 Quilts, of these: 
                  21 were pieced by Rose; quilted by Alton (15), Rose (7); and bound by Rose (7), Peggy (7), Donna James (3), and Chris Schuck, Jennifer Miller, Jacquie Juers, and Jeanette Gross (1 each)
                    2 were done by Joan Odell
                    1 by Kathy Silvon
                    The rest did not indicate, but thank you to whomever turned these in
                    5 Love Project quilts were completed at the retreat
  • Kudos to Peggy who agreed to bind a quilt that had been donated by a family whose mother had passed before completing the quilt. It was made totally of 2.5" squares grouped with sashing and measured 110 inches square! This took some patience to quilt as it was not the smoothest edges either, and Peggy outdid herself. This quilt has been delivered to The Hope Center along with two other larger quilts. The center places families in homes and accepts larger quilts that would fit a bed.
  • One quilt fits the criteria for a NICU Charity quilt challenge. It did not have a card attached to indicate who made it.  
  • ​Donations this month also included approximately 20 children's quilts to Nemours Children's Hospital.
